A few months back, Facebook suddenly and unexpectedly removed Ged Jones’ Facebook group “The Derann Vaults”. No explanation was ever given, and Ged never got a reply when asking Facebook. With that hundreds of posts about Derann was tragically lost. But now it is back – as a website.
The 15th of February, Super8database had been public for 4 years! I can’t believe how quickly time passes!
Super 8 has been the media for the homes, and have been mostly forgotten by official archives. I was therefore very surprised when I last year received an e-mail from two researchers at a university in Germany, an e-mail that eventually would lead me back to “my own” university to attend some Super 8 related presentations.
Time flies, and there hasn’t been a lot to report. Perhaps this is a sign that the project is getting more mature, as most of the work now goes into adding more content only, and not adding a ton of new exciting features.
A new podcast has entered the scene of film and film collecting.
Here is my report of my visit to the Film Convention in Blackpool 18th – 20th of November 2022.
As we announced in February, we started adding projectors to the database. Now we have reached 1590 projectors.
I have looked at the socket for the remote control on my Elmo GS-1200 many times and thought how nice it would have been to have one. Now I am the proud owner of a new one from Tested Super 8 Cameras.
The Blackpool convention has set the dates for 2022. It will be held at the Grand Hotel Friday 18th to Sunday 20th of November.
